About Dr. Parrott

Charlotte-1I am a native Houstonian. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and my Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston. I completed an internship at Baylor College of Medicine and have received training in many different hospitals and clinics in Houston, including M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the Houston Area Women’s Center, DePelchin Children’s Center, and the Neuropsychiatric Center at Ben Taub General Hospital.

In my practice, I tailor my approach to my clients and their specific needs. My style is flexible, warm, and present-focused. It is important for me to offer the best treatment to my clients and as such, I use techniques that have been scientifically shown to help people change their lives for the better. Primarily, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which involves identifying and shifting unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. I also use acceptance and mindfulness-based techniques, which help clients get unstuck from thoughts, judgments, and behaviors that aren’t helping them live full, value-driven lives. This approach allows clients to discover ways to better cope with strong negative emotions and better navigate relationships with others.
